Sat, June 13th - Using Herbs at Home - a one day practical - Part 1

Heather Griggs Hardie of Aucuparia Botanicals will be hosting a one-day workshop on the practical aspects of using herbs in the home. The day will focus on basic plant identification skills, how to use an excursion flora and how to collect and process herbs for making preparations. The day will finish with participants being shown how to make a comfrey ointment with hot-infused oil and beeswax. Cost of the day is £40, to be booked and paid directly to Heather by June 1st, 2008. Class size is limited to 15, so book early to avoid disappointment. Please bring a packed lunch and suitable footwear for walking in the garden, a waterproof jacket (if necessary), and an inquisitive nature.

Sat, July 18th - Cooking with Herbs: Spice up your life!

Heather Griggs Hardie of Aucuparia Botanicals will be hosting a one-day workshop on the practical aspects of using herbs in the home. From Nettle risotto to Elderflower fritters, wild and garden herbs can improve you food as well as your health. We will spend a day collecting, processing and cooking with wild, garden and exotic herbs. We will talk about designing a herb garden for the kitchen and the many benefits of foraging for our food. Cost of the day is £45 to be booked and paid directly to Heather by June 1st, 2008. Class size is limited to 15, so book early to avoid disappointment. A vegetarian lunch will be included (we will prepare it ourselves!) but bring suitable footwear for walking in the garden and a waterproof jacket (if necessary).

Sat, Aug 15th - Using Herbs at Home - a one day practical - Part 2

Heather Griggs Hardie of Aucuparia Botanicals will be hosting a one-day workshop on the practical aspects of using herbs in the home. We will look at the different kinds of herbal preparations, then make and taste or apply each kind. We will talk about designing a small herb plot in your garden and which plants may be suitable. We will be making calendula cream in the afternoon and participants will get to take away a pot of cream. Class size is limited to 15, so book early to avoid disappointment. Please bring a packed lunch and suitable footwear for walking in the garden and a waterproof jacket (if necessary).

Biography and Contact Details

Heather Griggs Hardie holds a BSc (Hons) in Herbal Medicine from Napier University in Edinburgh. She is the recipient of a 2007 Nigel Wynn Award for Innovative Projects in Herbal Medicine from the National Institure of Medical Herbalists. She is a member of the College of the Practitioners of Phytotherapy (MCPP) and the National Institute of Mediacl Herbalists (MNIMH).
