The Herb Garden and Nursery is open through the growing season. The walled garden of Poyntzfield House provides ideal conditions for growing, sheltered by hedges and woodland with a southerly aspect. It is well suited for cultivating herbs from around the world.

Guided Tours 2025 – We are offering guided tours of the herb nursery and garden. Come along and learn more about growing and using herbs from founder Duncan Ross on Thursday afternoons from 1 – 2pm on the following dates – May 8th & 22nd, June 5th & 19th, July 10th & 24th, August 7th & 21st, September 4th & 18th. Suggested donation of £5 and fresh herb teas will be served.

Guided tours / walks are also available for garden groups and societies at other times. Please email [email protected] for more details.

Getting here

Located on the north side of the Black Isle, just north of Inverness off the B9163 between Jemimaville and Balblair. Follow the signage for Poyntzfield and at the top of the drive is the herb nursery parking.

By bus

Stagecoach operate a No. 26 service between Inverness and Cromarty. Get off at the Poyntzfield road end and it is a 10 minute walk up the tree-lined drive to the nursery.

By bicycle

As well as access by road, Poyntzfield can be got to via a track to Poyntzfield Mill from near Mount High. The track surface is mostly good but there are some rougher sections which are best crossed on a mountain bike.
