Established in 1976 in the walled garden of Poyntzfield House, Duncan Ross took an overgrown and unkept area and cultivated herbs and vegetables to bring it into the productive garden it is today. After 46 years he retired in 2022, the growing is now done by his son Finlay who looks to continue the success built by his father, providing herbs for health and wellbeing. A student at Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh he has worked widely, most recently at Inverness Botanics before taking on growing responsibilities at the herb garden.

About us
Supplying keen gardeners and herbalists with plants and seeds has always been the aim and from an initial 70 varieties grown, this has been expanded to over 400 which plants ranging from all around the world. The garden is open through the growing season to interested gardeners who can see the plants growing in situ or take one or two potted specimens home to grow in their own garden. Over 100 varieties of seed are available which have been carefully grown and collected at the nursery. If you are located further away we also send plants around the UK by post which can be done through the Herb Shop on this website.
