A native shrub of Central America and the West Indies growing up to 4 feet / 1.2 metres high with green toothed and aromatic foliage and bright yellow flowers that appear sporadically throughout the growing season and into the winter. In the north grow as a tender perennial in a container under glass or conservatory, further south it be placed outside in the summer and brought in for the winter. Repot every spring and prune out any old wood. Pick of any yellow leaves to keep the plant in good condition.
The tea from the leaves are reputed to help with digestion, respiratory issues, coughs and colds and many other applications.
Only use small quantities and do not take during pregnancy.
