An aromatic evergreen shrub or small tree from New Zealand that can be grown in a sheltered border. It is hardy here on the Black Isle north of Inverness. We grow the wild species ( not a cultivar) which has myrtle-like foliage and white/pink flowers that appear here in april/may and july. The bees that feed on the nectar provide us with the well known health giving honey. The bark and leaves also contain medicinal properties. Our young plants are usually about 20cm high.
