A deciduous half hardy shrub from Paraguay, where it is sometimes used to sweeten Mate. We use the leaves either fresh or dried to sweeten any herb tea and recommend it as a good alternative to cane or beet sugar. Grow indoors in the winter and outside in the summer or in a polytunnel in northern garden. Available from may to september.
